Online course: " Achieve super relaxation and agility ". Topic 1.

Topic 1.

What is agility?

Agility  is  the ability to move out of any position, that is, the ability to cope with any arising motor task.
And accordingly, this should be done not somehow, but:

  1. correctly  or effectively  (adequately and accurately);
  2. rationally (expedient and economical);
  3. resourceful ( proactive);
  4. quickly (that is, soon and quickly).

Agility and coordination ability.
Agility is expressed through the totality of coordination abilities, as well as the ability to perform motor actions with the required range of motion (mobility in the joints).
Dexterity is brought up through teaching motional actions and solving motional tasks that require constant changes in the structure of actions. When teaching, a mandatory requirement is the novelty of the exercise being learned and the conditions for its application. The element of novelty is supported by the coordination difficulty of the action and the creation of external conditions that make it difficult to perform the exercise. The solution of motional tasks presupposes the fulfillment of the mastered motional actions in unfamiliar situations.

At the same time, the concept of Agility is not limited to the coordination abilities of a person.
Here is an example (you are probably already familiar with these examples from previous lessons).

Example;
Once I held a seminar for the Belgian police. Those officers were well
prepared physically. One of them shared a situation that happened to him once.
The man had more than 15 years of experience of the police service.
Why I would like to give it as an example? Because a situation like this
could happen with anyone who drives a car.
The officer was driving his car during the day, on his usual way outside
the city at a speed of about 80 km/h. Suddenly, he saw a big truck with headlights approaching. The lorry moved to the oncoming lane and clearly wasn’t going to go away.

This is how the officer described his reaction:
When I realized the extent  of the approaching danger, I felt myself like a stone that could not move”.
“In that moment, I was understanding that I needed to turn away from the
oncoming vehicle’s path, slow down, give a signal, flash headlights or stop.”
“But! I could not do any of that. I fell into a complete stupor and with
eyes wide open I was still pushing the gas pedal. I had only one desire: to close my eyes”.
“But even that I could not do”.
“To the end I do not know what happened. Either the driver ‘woke up’ or
he just played a bad joke, but the lorry had turned out of my way at the last
moment. I kept going for about a kilometer before I came back to my senses and was able to stop the car.”
20 имен водителей, кто чаще всего попадает в ДТП — с кем опасно ездить?
As we could see, even excellent physical fitness and the special police
training are not sufficient or fundamental for dealing with this situation.
What should be done in order to prepare professionals such as police officers, security personnel, bodyguards, etc., as well as ordinary citizens, for an unpredictable extreme situation? This kind of situation could easily happen to anyone in everyday life and no one is immune from incidents where our life and health can be threatened.
New.sc - Под Киевом перевернулся грузовик MAN и повис над встречной полосой

This policeman had excellent movement coordination. He practiced various martial arts practically all his life. He even competed and is currently an instructor. But in a real situation, all his high coordinating abilities did not give him a real ability to quickly and effectively solve a very dangerous situation that suddenly arose.
Conclusion:
Only high coordination abilities of a person do not guarantee the effective solution of suddenly arising tasks (problems).
Homework 1.
What is the difference between "Agility" and "Coordination of movements"?
Please write as many of these differences as you can think of.
Homework 2.
What techniques do you know of developing agility  for solving of  similar problems, as shown in the example above?

Homework 3.
What  similar  techniques have you already (studied) used in your life?
